Cardinal Gerhard Müller, prefect emeritus of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, called on Catholics to “obey God and not those who propose the ‘big reset or great reset’ or the New World Order”.
Interviewed by Alejandro Bermudez on EWTN’s Cara a Cara programme, Cardinal Müller stressed that “we have to obey the Word of God and not the variable reflections of dominant men”, with ideas such as “the Big Reset, the New World Order”.
The big reset or great reset is a proposal that emerged from the World Economic Forum in Davos, which aims to rethink “the future state of global relations, the direction of national economies, the priorities of societies, the nature of business models and the management of a global common good”. These ideas pick up on the Davos Forum’s own call a few years ago for a “New World Order”, a long-standing desire of globalist elites to build a world government based on international institutions, such as the United Nations, the WTO, the WHO, Unesco, the Hague Criminal Court, the World Bank, and so on.
Today, Müller said, “very rich people”, who “are very successful in the economy, super millionaires”, such as Microsoft founder Bill Gates, pretend to know “more about anthropology, about the history of philosophy”. However, he stressed, “they are not in a position to speak philosophically”.
After stressing the importance of growing up and being formed in a Christian environment within the family, the cardinal reiterated that “in the end, everyone has to say and decide: I am a disciple of Jesus Christ or not”. This, he pointed out, is especially important in the face of “this world of relativism”, which imposes gender ideology, and which seeks “a single way of thinking, everyone has to think the same as the Davos Economic Forum”. “And those who do not think and speak like them, like the leaders of public opinion, they attack them, they say they are right-wing, or are Nazis or promote a conspiracy theory”, he denounced. “They attack personally, they defame personally all those who are not part of this one way of thinking,” he added.
Cardinal Müller recalled that “for a long time”, since Emperor Constantine, the Western world lived in a predominantly Christian society and culture. “But since the Enlightenment, a totally anti-Christian movement,” he said, there was “this fracture in the Christian tradition”, with the emergence of “great atheistic ideologies”.
However, he noted, “in other parts of the world Christianity has never been the majority”, such as in Muslim-dominated regions or parts of Asia. There, he said, “Christians have always had this experience of being a minority”. “That will also be our experience in the West, of becoming more or less a minority of believers. Many Catholics according to custom, but without content, without that substance of faith,” he said.
“We have to defend these values. Not only Christian tradition, Revelation, supernatural faith, but also natural values: the dignity of all men against abortion, against artificial insemination, where the man, the baby, is only a product of manipulations and not a gift of God,” he said.
This situation, he pointed out, should push us to be “not only a minority that suffers, but also a minority that is creative, that defends human rights against these manipulations that we have today”. Among these threats, the Cardinal pointed to “transhumanism”, which seeks to “make a hybrid, a combination between a man and a machine, a man and animals”. “All this is against human dignity,” he warned.
