Yahoo Life on Thursday published a story about an 11-year-old boy who believes he is a girl, calling him a “transgender activist” and using his “preferred pronouns”.
“…Fighting for equality has become a mission for Kai Shappley, an 11-year-old transgender activist who says his identity is not up for debate,” the small publication characterised the story.
Yahoo Life headlined the story: “Why this 11-year-old transgender activist is fighting for the right to health care in Texas: ‘I have to speak out. Shappley told the reporter that she was “always a girl” and believed she was transgender around the age of three.
“I was about three when I realised that my mother and some of the people around me didn’t know who I was. It took me a while, obviously, but at 4.5 years old, my family and I came out publicly,” he said.
Shappley’s delusion has apparently been empowered by his mother, Kimberly, who in 2016 “fought back when a primary school in Pearland, Texas, refused to let Kai use the girls’ bathroom.” Kimberly also testified before Texas lawmakers in opposition to bills that would protect women and girls from transgender activists – while doing so, she identified herself as “a Republican, a Christian and the mother of a transgender child,” the report says .
Since then, Shappley “has become an outspoken activist for transgender rights” and travels the country with her mother to speak out against bills that would curtail the agenda of far-left transgender activists.
Last year, Shappley spoke before the Texas Senate Committee in protest of a bill that would have banned “gender care” for minors. The bill did not pass, but his testimony, in which he misquoted the Bible while reading his monologue from a mobile phone, “went viral”. Shappley specifically referred to transgender people as “the least of these”, said that “God does not make mistakes” and ignored biblical teaching: “Those created male and female…”
“For people who can’t get the treatment they need, and have no way to fix it, it can be very damaging. It can make damaging changes to their body that can never be erased,” Shappley claimed without evidence while speaking to Yahoo Life reporter. “I knew I had to do something to stop that.”
Yahoo Life did not include any information about the potential dangers and long-term consequences of “gender affirming” medical care for minors, a far-left euphemism intended to make the mutilation of children sound like a compassionate action. The publication also failed to detail the types of procedures and “treatments” these children would undergo.
Notably, the Biden administration recently released several documents promoting transgender sex reassignment surgeries and hormone treatments for children, calling the measures “crucial to overall health and well-being”.
The most egregious option involves transforming children’s bodies through irreversible surgeries aimed at “aligning their external physical features with their gender identity.” The procedures listed include “upper surgery – to create a typical male breast shape or enhance breasts” and “lower surgery – surgery on the genitals or reproductive organs.” The document entitled “Gender-Affirming Care and Young People” does not include more grotesque aspects of these surgeries, such as when girls’ breasts are cut off and fake penises are constructed from tissue from another part of the body.
The document also recommends puberty blockers and hormone therapy, which, according to the Mayo Clinic, can cause infertility, loss of bone density and underdevelopment of sexual organs (especially in the case of minors taking puberty blockers).
Yahoo Life ended its report by insisting that Shappley is “just like any other 11-year-old” outside of his activism.
“He likes to sew, ride his bike and listen to music. She loves fashion and cats and wants to meet Dolly Parton one day. She is also pursuing a career as an actress. In 2020, she won a role in the reboot of Babysitter’s Club, and hopes that opportunity will be the first of many in the entertainment industry,” the report said.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, has called “child abuse” “gender affirmation” surgery for minors. After Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a legal opinion stating that gender-sustaining health care is considered child abuse under state law, Abbott put in place a directive authorising the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to investigate parents who would allow their children to receive hormone therapy and other gender transition procedures. A Texas judge declared the directive unconstitutional. Any investigation of the parents has now been suspended until at least July, when a trial will be held.
